Solar energy has historically been a minor player in the Texas electricity market.  Despite having the largest capacity to support solar energy in the country, not much investment has been made in large scale solar projects in Texas.

But this is about to change.  The manufacturing costs of photovoltaic cells have gone down while efficiency has steadily improved.  Between 2011 and 2016 the amount of solar capacity in Texas increased by a factor of 10.  This growth rate will only accelerate in the near future.

Tips for Comparing Electric Companies in Whitehouse

Before comparing Whitehouse, TX electric companies, you need to make certain that you are looking at the correct rates. There are three standard levels in which electricity rates in Whitehouse are priced.  The levels are based on your anticipated average monthly electricity usage in kilowatt hours.  They are supposed to represent three different home sizes.

They are:

  • 2000 kWh: Large House
  • 1000 kWh: Small House
  • 500 kWh:  Apartment

Not every home fits neatly into one of these levels of course.  But this can at least give you a rough idea of what to expect.  It’s important that when you are comparing electricity rates, you are looking at rates that correspond as closely as possible with your home size.  Even within the same plan, rates can be very different at the three usage levels.
