Why Compare Big Spring Electricity Providers
Maybe you think that it doesn’t really matter who you choose for electricity. If you are considering reliability of service, it doesn’t matter. All electricity in Texas is delivered through the same infrastructure and same power lines regardless of who you choose as your electric company.
But there is one area where your choice of provider makes a big difference – Price! Electricity rates can vary widely from provider to provider and city to city. One company may have the best rate in Big Spring, while a completely different company could have the best rate in another city.
The difference is a lot bigger than you think. We constantly monitor the electricity market in Texas and maintain a comprehensive list of electricity providers in Big Spring along with their plans, rates, and special offers. It is not unusual to find that the highest rate in the list is twice as high as the lowest rate in the list.
This means that you could find yourself paying twice as much on your light bill as you should be paying! That’s real money. The largest electric bill savings can be had by switching your business over to cheap commercial electricity rates.
Sources of Big Spring Electricity
Big Spring electric companies get their electricity from three main energy sources; fossil fuels, nuclear, and renewable power.
Fossil Fuels
Natural Gas – Natural gas is the preferred fuel source for the power plants that feed electricity to the Texas electricity. Improvements in the efficiency of fracking techniques have led to an abundance of natural gas in the US and Texas in particular. Natural gas is an efficient source for electricity because it is easy to ramp up production at a power plant that uses natural gas. This allows grid operators to balance available electricity supply and demand on the grid as fast as possible.
Coal – Traditionally, coal was the primary source of electricity in Big Spring and the rest of Texas. In recent years a mixture of regulations, environmental concerns, and falling natural gas prices have led to a decline in coal as a source of electricity.
Renewable Energy
Nuclear Power – Nuclear power makes up less than 5% of the electricity capacity for the state of Texas.
Wind Energy – Most renewable power in Texas comes from wind turbines. The largest portion of the state’s wind turbines are in west Texas.
Solar – Solar power is a fast growing source of renewable energy in Big Spring.
