For things to do in the city, in nearby Denton, the Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum is a local favorite, as well as the Little Chapel in the Woods, and the Bayless-Selby House Museum. But there are many more options, especially because of the city’s near proximity to Denton and relative closeness to Northeast Tarrant.
The city got its name from one of the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railway employees, Charles K. Krum. The railway ran through the Krum area and that sparked the start of the business community. General stores, barbershops, drugstores, saloons, and many more businesses which only invited more growth.
A large staple of the community was wheat during the 20th century–the near proximity to the railroad made it possible to ship many large quantities of the commodity. Currently, the economy is driven by manufacturing and educational positions in the workforce. And commercial enterprises still thrive in the city, with about 9% of all occupations centering around the retail sphere of the economy.
