How often should I shop for a new electricity plan in Texas
In general, you should be looking for cheaper rates as the term of your current energy plan is coming to an end. You will usually get an email, letter, or phone call from your current provider as your plan is about to expire offering you a new contract at a new rate. The rate might be higher or lower than your previous fixed rate depending on what direction the market has moved since you entered your last contract. It is good to compare the rate they are offering with the plans of other companies. There is a good chance the cheapest electricity rates will be found with a new provider. In that case, it’s to your benefit to switch.
